Green Fingered

I never was one for gardening. At the old house, we had a medium sized garden and a large patio area. For me, the entire thing could have been patio'ed. I was once bought a herb wheel, thinking I could keep it alive, but no :( I kept the pot though, as I will re-plant something in it.
Mr H likes being in the garden, he loves a good BBQ in the good weather.
At the new house, I decided I would like to become more green-fingered. We are lucky, as we have moved to a house where the previous owner appears to have loved the garden. There are lovely plants popping up everywhere. So, I planted my veggies. I now have a variety of veggies growing in my kitchen, waiting to be transferred to the greenhouse Mr H built for me.
I haven't photographed my Chives and Rocket, and the Potatoes, Raspberries and Blueberries are still waiting to be planted - Needed to wait til after the last frost.
I love to read, and at the moment am really enjoying Annie Groves books, which are all related to the war and how people lived then, with rations etc. I already have a love for vintage/retro - 1940s and 1950s. I spoke to my Gran who says she can recall her Mum growing vegetables in the front garden of their cottage. It's lovely to think that I may be able to grow vegetables in the same way that my Great Grandma did.

I love all seasons ... I love the colours that Spring, Summer and Autumn bring. I am enjoying seeing daffodils popping up in the garden, and have had 4 bunches in the house now too.
Craft wise, my cousin gave me a bag of her 3 daughters babygrows, to be cut into squares and made into a patchwork quilt, so I have been cutting them out. I need 36, have 17 and have run out of babygrows so I am waiting for her to give me some more.
And I have bought some more wool, only 4 balls, they only cost £4 and they are tweed, 100g each.
Now I just have to think of something to crochet!

  1. Hi Lea!
Yes, the green fingers are getting antsy here in the Ozarks of MO as well. I'm on the hunt for bales of straw for this year's garden. With all the flooding earlier in the year, straw is in short supply and high demand.

My sweet hubby fixed a spigot to my big water tank today so now I have easier access to the rain water we've been collecting.

Thanks for visiting my creative blog. If you'd like to see pics of my garden from last year, you can check out one of my other blogs:
